Meet Rob Munn, Former Olympian and New Business Development Director at Altair Global

We’re making waves with our latest team member hire here at Altair Global: Rob Munn, our new Business Development Director!

With a background spanning elite athletics and the wine and spirits industry, Rob brings a fresh perspective and dynamic energy to his new role. His journey—from competing at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games as a rower for Team USA to leading high-performing sales teams on the West Coast—has shaped his ability to adapt, strategize, and foster strong relationships, making him a fantastic addition to Altair.

Rob and his wife, April, are making the move with their two dogs (an 11-year-old beagle and 13-year-old beagle/German shorthair pointer mix) from Washington to our Walnut Creek office, and he’s already been immersing himself in the area, getting to know both the team and local mobility community. Having personally experienced relocation—previously moving across the country to train with the U.S. National Rowing Team in Princeton—Rob understands the challenges that come with big moves. His firsthand perspective reinforces his appreciation for the role of relocation management companies in making transitions smoother for mobile employees. More specifically, he looks forward to using his Olympic training of patience and persistence when it comes his new relocation journey.

“A relocation assignment is more like the journey an athlete must go through when getting to an Olympic event, rather than performing in the individual event itself. Looking from the wide lens perspective, the Olympics is daunting and overwhelming. However, when I was able to dive in and focus on the tasks required each day, I could achieve greater goals with my teammates. This is transferrable in getting the prospective customer to where they need to go and achieving goals at Altair.”

– Rob Munn, Director, Business Development at Altair Global

When he’s not working, you’ll find Rob staying active—whether it’s playing Aussie Rules football, hitting the golf course, or hitting the court for a game of pickleball. He’s a longtime Seattle sports fan, supporter of the University of Washington Huskies, and has a deep love for the Australian Football League’s Port Adelaide Power. (And if you’re curious about AFL, he’s happy to introduce you—though you may have to join him for a 2 a.m. game viewing!) His ultimate indulgence? Mozzarella sticks paired with an espresso martini—because, as he puts it, that’s “peak performance nutrition.” And, of course, we had to ask the wine and spirits industry expert for his go-to wine: “any older cabernet, but I do appreciate a red from the Red Mountain region in Washington.” Safe to say he’s excited to be relocating closer to Napa and Sonoma regions.

Rob is most excited about joining an industry that supports people through life’s biggest transitions. He’s eager to learn, build new relationships, and apply his strategic mindset to the world of corporate mobility. Join us in welcoming Rob to the Altair Global team—we can’t wait to see his impact!

“I’m excited for all that Rob will accomplish here on our team at Altair,” said Jim Russo, Senior Vice President, Head of Global Business Development at Altair Global. “His energy is already evident with the departments he works with, and with him bringing a fresh perspective to the table, I have no doubt he’s the perfect strategic thinker we need on board to continue our business growth.”
